It's been a short month for most of us. I'm just getting used to working full time for RPA and now I have a week off. It's funny when you start seeing a major change in your lifestyle how you start making plans, at least I do.
Whenever I'm getting ready to come home after a long stay in Dominica, I always tell myself I'm going to finally go to a Dodger game, or to the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion and catch a show, or to MOCA, but alas, I never really do.

I imagined that this week off I'd get so much done around the house, but all I've been able to accomplish so far is to spend one long day in bed with food poisoning from Seared-Ahi Tuna that wasn't seared quite enough.

Hopefully the rest of this week I can get some work OFF my desk and say that I actually accomplished something over my Christmas/New Years break, and maybe MOCA as well- stay tuned.

I like to shop in Pasadena, Old Town Specifically. The parking is easy, and inexpnsive, they have lots of my fav stores (Apple, Sunglass Hut, Banana Republic) and it's close to home.

Imagine my surprise to read in the paper this morning that some guy decided to put a bullet in somebody on the street, in front of dozens of people, in broad daylight at an area I was in not 48 hours ago, and that JAY was in about 1 hour before this incident. I was stunned, I AM stunned. Blatant attempeted murder on the street. WTF?

Go ahead, ask me what I got for Christmas

Bang and I stepped into the apple store the other day and I got a look at the iPod touch. I reveled in it's economy of design, and marveled at the touch screen, and the simplicity of the interface. Bang thought it was a waste, "It's just an iPhone, without the best part!" he said.
I disagreed.

I have a phone, and a plan that I like very much. I don't want to switch to AT&T just for the gadget. I've already asked several people if it's possible to get the iPhone, without the phone feature, meaning, can I get all the bells and whistles without the commitment?
Apparently not- until now.

The iPod touch is PERFECT for a guy like me who LOVES the iPhone features, but doesn't necessarily want THE PHONE. Let's face it, the best part of the iPhone is NOT the phone, but the touch screen, the MP3 player, the iPhoto, and the web browser, all avaiable for iPod touch.
Bang is no dummy, and ordered one for me for Chrstmas and I am so grateful. I'm loving this new toy- it's fantastic- and better than that- it was a total and complete surprise-

Thanks Bang- I love it!!

World AIDS day

Participate in the W.A.D.
In Los angeles, Team UTAC(Until There is A Cure) is sponsoring a 24 mile bike ride to commemorate the 24 yeaars we have been living with this pandemic.

World AIDS Day (WAD) is also observed all over- you guessed it- The WORLD in various ways. Take these happy young men somewhere in the east, pedaling and participating and giving their support~ I would normally say "Japan" but I have learned from my closeness to the Asian community that I rarely ever get it right. What looks Japanese to me might be obviously Chinese, or Korean, or Vietnamese . . . Hell- these guys could be from PACOIMA for all I know.

What did you do today?

Right Behind you, Rico

At Bradley Estrin's 30th Birthday party (the last one, I think it was day 4?) I had the pleasure of spending time wit RICO. Nice guy, my age, attractive, friendly, Funny!

On my way to work last week, I was following a bus, and Rico's face was on the ad on the back. Bradley works for the LA Gay and Lesbian center as director of the "HIV stops with Me" campaign, and Rico, as it turns out, is one of his spokes models.
Another remarkable thing, Rico has been living with HIV for 23 years.
Way to go Rico~ hang in there.

I promised you a blog entry and here it is. Hopefully I can stay true to this months dispatches and round the year out smoothly. Before I forget, take a minute to check out this weeks posting of "Sounds Fabulous" the topc for this wek was "Forgivenes" and I thought our interview went very well.

Two days off, yeehah!

This weeks commute seemed especially hard. With the rain and the shorter days, the drive from home to Santa Monica is getting closer and closer to 2 hours on the average- seems the mixture of darkness and water serves as a gas-pedal retardant, and everyone slows down,.

Two hours to go 18 miles? Silliness!!

Today's been a lazy Saturday for me, cold and brisk outside, and we pulled out all the holiday junk from the garage to start setting up for the season. It seems like just last month I was putting my toy trains back in the box and sliding it under the bed, and here it is time to get the stuff out again, my God how the years go by fast now.
